What does a \u201cReason: 553 sorry, that domain isn\u2019t in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)\u201d error mean when an email message bounces back to the sender?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Above error will be bounced back to a sender if the email address the sender is trying to send to is not fully activated: \u201cReason: 553 sorry, that domain isn\u2019t in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)\u201d This usually occurs when:<\/p>\n

Your POP mail client (i.e. Outlook) is not configured properly. We suggest the following:<\/p>\n

If you are using Outlook or other email client application please make sure that:<\/p>\n

Solution A:\u00a0<\/strong>Please ensure that the SMTP port number is set to 25 and that the option \u201cMy outgoing server(SMTP) requires authentication\u201d is selected. If this still does not resolve the problem, proceed to Solution B.<\/p>\n

Solution B:<\/strong>\u00a0For SMTP port number setting, use port 587 and \u201cselect\u201d the option \u201cMy outgoing server(SMTP) requires authentication\u201d as well.<\/p>\n

IMPORTANT:<\/strong>\u00a0Also ensure you are using your full email address as your username.<\/span><\/p>\n

Microsoft Outlook Express and Outlook 2000<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Click Tools<\/li>\n
  2. Click Accounts<\/li>\n
  3. Click the Mail tab<\/li>\n
  4. Double-click on the BlueTie account<\/li>\n
  5. Verify that the email address is entered in all lowercase letters (General Tab)<\/li>\n
  6. Click the Servers tab.<\/li>\n
  7. Verify that \u201cServer Requires Authentication\u201d is checked<\/li>\n
  8. Click the Settings button and verify that \u201cLogin using same settings as my incoming mail server\u201d is selected<\/li>\n
  9. Click \u2018Apply\u2019 (if available), then \u2018OK\u2019, and then \u2018Close\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
